Clark is a visual artist and interior designer living and working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His approach to residential design is rooted in the idea that we spend 70% of our lives at home. Home is a refuge and the things we put in our homes should promote comfort, relaxation, health, happiness, and well-being. Using modern, contemporary, antique, and vintage furniture and decor, Clark creates collections that suit that unique character of every home he designs.
As an artist, he also values the role that art plays in design, and works closely with local artists to promote emerging talent and bring originality to the spaces he designs. His own limited edition screen prints often depict forms and patterns found in nature, while his paintings could be considered abstract geometric landscapes or portraits of the natural world.
Over the last 10 years, Clark has worked on a variety of high-profile projects in New York and San Francisco, only recently returning to Milwaukee. He began his education in art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, before moving to New York, where he worked at several art museums and design firms, later completing a Master of Arts in Sustainable Interior Environments at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He then moved to San Francisco where he worked on several high-value LEED Platinum homes, and returned to Milwaukee in 2019.
While most of Clark’s projects involve staging and the selection of furniture, lighting, artwork, and decor, he also designs more durable aspects of interiors, including the specification of materials, fixtures, casework, and appliances. He also has an extensive knowledge of material health and environmentally responsible design practices.
